How AFCA is governed and held to account
People give money, medicine and time to AFCA on trust. The least we owe them is a clear account of who we are, how decisions are made and what happens to what they give.
This page sets out our legal status, governance, financial principles and the documentation we make available. If something you need is not here, ask us for it.

How decisions are made
Leadership
AFCA is directed by a leadership team of medical professionals, headed by the President and Founder, Dr Ayafor Eric. Clinical direction and campaign priorities are set by clinicians.
Campaign decisions
Which communities receive a campaign is decided on assessed need — distance to care, population served and health needs — not on who is loudest or best connected.
Conflicts of interest
Anyone involved in a decision who has a personal or commercial interest in the outcome is expected to declare it and step back from that decision.
Clinical governance
Volunteers work within their registered scope of practice. Prescribing and dispensing are carried out by the appropriate professionals, and clinical responsibility rests with the treating clinician.
Patient confidentiality
Records created during a campaign are used for treatment, referral and anonymised reporting only. Patients are not identified publicly, and photographs of patients are taken only with consent.
Safeguarding
Children and vulnerable adults attending campaigns are treated in the presence of a parent, guardian or chaperone wherever possible. Concerns are escalated to the campaign lead.
How contributions are handled
AFCA is a volunteer organisation. Clinical time is donated, which means contributions go to the things that cannot be volunteered.
Donations are arranged directly
We do not collect payments through this website and we do not hold card or bank details of donors. Every contribution is arranged with our team and recorded.
In-kind donations are checked
Medication and consumables are checked for expiry, condition and suitability before they are accepted, and are stored and dispensed by pharmacy volunteers.
Contributions are allocated to need
Support is directed to what the next campaign is actually short of. Where a donor specifies a purpose, we honour it or return the contribution.
Partners receive reporting
Organisations that fund a campaign are told where it ran, what was delivered and what their contribution covered.
Documents available on request
Provided to funders, partners, journalists and regulators.
Certificate of registration
Proof of AFCA’s legal status as a registered non-profit in Cameroon.
Governance details
Leadership structure and the people responsible for the organisation.
Campaign reporting
Where campaigns ran, what was delivered and what was contributed.
Financial information
Available to funders and partners carrying out due diligence.
If something goes wrong
We would rather hear about a problem than have it go unreported. This applies to patients, volunteers, partners and members of the public alike.
What you can raise with us
- The conduct of anyone representing AFCA at a campaign
- The quality or safety of care you or a family member received
- How your personal information or photograph has been used
- How a donation or in-kind contribution has been handled
- Anyone soliciting money in AFCA’s name
How to raise it
Contact us using the details on our contact page, or use the enquiry form there. Tell us what happened, when, and where — and how you would like us to respond. You can ask to remain anonymous, although that may limit what we can investigate.
Beware of impersonation
AFCA never contacts people unexpectedly asking for payment, and we do not request card or bank details by message. If you receive something claiming to be from AFCA and asking for money, please verify it with us before acting on it.
What we will do
We will acknowledge your concern, look into it, and tell you the outcome. Where a clinical or safeguarding issue is involved, it is escalated to the leadership team. Where a matter falls to the health authorities or the police, we will say so and cooperate with them.
Doing due diligence on AFCA?
Ask us for whatever your organisation needs. We would rather be checked than taken on faith.
