Support Our Work

Support our work

Your support is the reason the care is free

Nothing about a medical campaign is free to run. It is free to the patient because someone else paid for the medication, the test kits and the transport that got a doctor to their village.

In Cameroon, close to three quarters of all health spending comes straight out of households’ own pockets, and only about six people in every hundred hold any form of health insurance. For a family in that position, a supported campaign is often the difference between treatment and going without.

Where support goes

Contributions to AFCA pay for medicines, diagnostic consumables, transport and equipment. Our clinical time is donated, so support goes into the things that cannot be volunteered.

What support pays for

Medication

Antimalarials, antibiotics, analgesics and medicines for hypertension and diabetes, dispensed free on the day.

Diagnostics

Rapid malaria tests, blood glucose strips, blood pressure monitors and the consumables to run them.

Transport

Getting a clinical team, equipment and medication to communities that are genuinely hard to reach.

Health education

Materials for the prevention and awareness sessions that run alongside consultations.

Ways to give

Support does not have to be money

Some of the most useful contributions AFCA receives never pass through a bank account.

Financial support

The most flexible form of help. Funds are directed to whatever the next campaign is short of — usually medication and diagnostic consumables.

Medicines and consumables

Pharmaceutical companies, distributors, pharmacies and hospitals can donate in-date medication, test kits, dressings and gloves.

Equipment

Blood pressure monitors, glucometers, weighing scales, examination lamps and other durable equipment that serves campaign after campaign.

Transport and logistics

Vehicles, fuel or freight to move a team and its supplies to a community and back.

Venue and hospitality

Space to run a clinic, tables and chairs, water, or meals for a volunteer team working a long day.

Professional services

Photography, translation, printing, accounting or legal support given pro bono frees our funds for medicine.

How to give

Arranging a donation

AFCA does not publish payment details on this website. Every contribution is arranged directly with our team, so that it is properly recorded and acknowledged.

Get in touch

Contact us and tell us roughly what you would like to give — funds, medication, equipment, transport or services — and whether it is one-off or ongoing.

We confirm what is needed

We will tell you honestly what the next campaign is actually short of. There is no point receiving a donation of something we already have enough of.

We agree the arrangement

We provide the appropriate details and documentation for the type of contribution, and confirm timing.

We acknowledge and report back

You receive confirmation of your contribution, and we tell you where it went — which campaign, which community, what it paid for.

A note on safety

AFCA will never contact you unexpectedly asking for payment details, and we do not collect card or bank information through this website. If you receive a message claiming to be from AFCA and asking for money, please verify it with us using the contact details on our contact page before acting on it.
